I suffered a heart breaking loss on Saturday. Notre Dame – 30 Oklahoma – 13. I have suffered many tough losses in my Sooners-fan career, but this one was a culmination of 3 years of disappointment. I will continue to keep my chin up. There is a still outside chance for an at-large bid. I will be attending the Tulsa-Arkansas game this Saturday in Fayetteville. This is very big game for Tulsa, and the possibility of an AP Top 25 ranking is on the line. You heard it here first, Cody Green will determine whether or not we beat the Hogs. Congrats to San Fran on the Fall Classic win. I definitely did not predict the sweep. I am not a Cowboys fans, but Romo and Garrett need to go. (Mainly because I would like to see Jerry make a run at Bradford). Now on to some law school stuff.
The ability to balance your time is an invaluable skill. I am at a point in the semester where I begin to cherish the hours I am able to sit and watch football. However, the month of November is the “Red Zone” of the fall semester, and my precious football hours are about to dwindle. Football fans know a team will not be successful if they do not perform well in the Red Zone. (Red Zone – a magical place between the 20yd line and endzone where dreams come true and hearts are broken) A football team’s chances of winning a game are greatly increased if they are able to execute in the Red Zone. A law student’s chances of producing a successful semester are greatly increased if they are able to balance their time in the “Red Zone.”
A successful semester in law school is not solely found in Red Zone. The other 80yds of the football field may likened to the months preceeding Novemeber. You must put in work at the begining of the semester to put your self in a postion to succeed. I do not use the term “time management” because it conflicts with the term “life.” I would like to live my life rather than manage it. The term “work life balance” is more appropriate. Finding a balance between school, work, and everthing else in the month of November is very hard for me. However, by taking an approach of balancing all these things I am able to find enjoyment in all. If you try to partition your life into a management scheme I do not believe you will be happy. A well balanced offense walking into the Red Zone is going to score points. A student walking into the Red Zone with her life in balance is going to succeed.
I hope everyone has a great week!
Todd
